MNA Ali Wazir, who was released from prison in February, has been arrested one again by security forces from North Waziristan while on his way to Islamabad to attend Parliament’s Budget session. According to reports, other activists of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) have also been arrested along with him in Waziristan’s Splagh area.
The latest arrests are reportedly part of a fresh crackdown against PTM.
MNA Mr. Mohsin Dawar, while addressing the National Assembly said that the charges leveled against Wazir were not clearly communicated and his whereabouts are remain unknown. “The only thing we know is that an FIR against him was lodged in Peshawar,” he said.
He called on the Speaker to carry out a comprehensive inquiry as to where Wazir is currently being held and on what grounds the arrest was made.
