Quetta: The 50-year-old woman, Granaz, who had accused Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Provincial Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran of detaining her and her family in his private jail and was rescued last week, was tortured along with her sons and daughter.

This was confirmed by Police surgeon Ayesha Faiz who conducted a medical examination of Granaz and her five children. She also said in her report that Granaz and her daughter were sexually abused.

Granaz’s husband, Khan Muhammad Marri has been accusing the provincial minister for the last two years of illegally detaining, torturing, and sexually abusing his wife and children.

Earlier this month, the bodies of Marri’s sons along with an unidentified 18-year-old woman, who was tortured, raped and disfigured, were recovered from a well in Barkhan, leading to protests in Quetta by the Marri tribesmen, demanding the recovery of the family. Granaz and her five children were later rescued in separate raids and reunited with Marri.

Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran was arrested and is on 10-day physical remand.

In a recorded video message released on Sunday, Granaz narrated her and her family’s ordeal and said the family was subjected to torture and were kept in separate rooms. She also claimed they were not allowed to meet each other.

The 15-year-old son also said in the video that they were mostly kept in Barkhan. He said they were brought to Quetta in tight security and were detained in Khetran’s house.

He said some of the family members were taken to Duki and were kept in a hideout. However, the man who was keeping an eye on the family disappeared just before law security officials raided the place and recovered them.

The 11-year-old son said in the video that they were subjected to torture and were forced to work. The boys also alleged that they were sexually abused.
