Former prime minister Imran Khan has been arrested by the Rangers from outside the Islamabad High Court where he had gone to seek bail in multiple First Information Reports registered against him.
According to reports, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested the former prime minister in Al-Qadir Trust case from outside the premises of IHC.
GeoNews reported the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman was taken in a black Vigo by Rangers.
Following the arrest, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq has directed the Islamabad police chief, the interior ministry secretary and the additional attorney general to appear before the court within 15 minutes and sought an explanation as to why the PTI chief was arrested.
The IHC CJ said that he would “summon” the prime minister if the Islamabad police chief did not appear before the court, Dawn reported.
Earlier, army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), released a statement, warning Imran Khan against hurling “baseless allegations”.
Lashing out at former prime minister Imran Khan, the Pakistan Army had said the PTI chief has leveled “highly irresponsible and baseless allegation” against a serving senior military officer without any evidence. It also warned the former premier of legal course.
