Pakistani Journalist Killed In Kenya Under Mysterious Circumstances

Published on

Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, who had left Pakistan in August reportedly amid death threats, was killed in Kenya under mysterious circumstances on Sunday. The slain journalist was a critic of the country’s military establishment, and had been vocal against the ouster of former prime minister Imran Khan.

The news of Arshad Sharif’s death came as a shock to the country’s journalist fraternity, which is now asking the authorities to carry out an independent investigation into the tragic incident.

Sharif’s wife took to Twitter to announce the news of his death, requesting privacy for their family.

Rights organizations and activists have condemned the journalist’s murder, with many calling for an international inquiry to ascertain the facts surrounding his killing. The Kenyan authorities termed the incident a case of mistaken identity, but journalists seem unwilling to buy this claim.
