F-9 Park Rape: ‘Criminal Silence On Sexual Crimes Against Women’

ISLAMABAD: On February 2nd, a woman was raped in F-9 Park in Islamabad while she was with her male colleague. According to the FIR, two men raped the woman at a gunpoint and told her “not to come to the park at this time”.

Social media is outraged at the incident, and netizens believe there is not enough uproar surrounding the incident.

“Where is the public outrage?”

Human Rights Activist Dr Farzana Bari questioned where is the public outrage against these gang rape incidents?

In another incident, a private bus company guard and driver raped a bus hostess on a moving bus in Vehari.

Deeming the incidents “horrific”, she said the “criminal silence on sexual crimes against women shows that we are the society of dead with no conscience”.

 

“Victim blaming mindset”

Many social media users were of the view that this victim-blaming mindset is “a strong indictment of both our government and men in our society”.

“This country is not safe”

“This is why we need Aurat March”

Meanwhile, the police have also issued a sketch of the rapist.
