A court in Islamabad has sentenced the security guard of a private company to life imprisonment for raping a foreign national.
The Aabpara police had received an application last year from a foreign national that she was sexually assaulted by the security guard of her house.
The police gathered evidence and submitted a challan to the court which convicted him and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The verdict was given nine months after the incident by Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar pronounced. Public Prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas prosecuted the case.
The foreign national also recorded her statement through a video link during the trial wherein she confirmed the rape. The foreign woman was attached to a United Nations subsidiary in Islamabad.
In addition to this, the DNA was also matched, following which the court sentenced accused Muhammad Safir to life imprisonment.
Pakistan often ranks among the worst country for women’s security and last year in Karachi alone over 500 rape cases were reported. The number is believed to be much higher than this.
Earlier, a nine-year-old disabled child was found raped and murdered in Karachi’s Korangi area.
The police have arrested two people for investigation.
The body of the boy was found in the rear seat of a parked Suzuki Cultus car. The police also said that they have arrested the owner of the vehicle and watchman of the parking stand for the investigation.
According to doctors, the boy had a right-hand deformity and during the medical examination, multiple injuries were found all over the body. The findings also suggested anal sexual abuse.
