A nine-year-old boy was gang-raped by a prayer leader and head of the seminary along with his senior student in the Hamayatabad area of Khanewal City.
On Sunday morning, the head of the Madressah Jamia Al-Habibia left the nine-year-old boy home in critical condition, warning him of consequences if he told anyone about the incident. However, the child narrated the ordeal to his uncle, Ghulam Abbas, when he asked him about the bleeding.
The minor boy, a resident of Azizabad Basti, was residing at the seminary for the last one year and doing hifz. His mother had passed away and his father could not take care of him due to mental health issues.
Police have booked both suspects, Dawn reported.
According to a report by an NGO working on child protection, Sahil, over 12 children were sexually abused daily in Pakistan and as many as 4,253 cases of child sexual abuse were reported in Pakistan during 2022.
According to the report, as many as 4,253 cases relating to child sexual abuse, abduction, missing children and child marriages were reported in Pakistan.
Out of the total reported cases, 2,325 victims were girls (55%) and 1,928 (45%) were boys.
2022 saw an increase of 33 per cent when it comes to the cases of child abuse from the previous year.
