The Municipal Committee of district Sanghar, Sindh has published a discriminatory advertisement inviting “non-Muslims only” for sanitation jobs. Such advertisements have been banned by all the other provincial governments in Pakistan.
An advertisement, dated May 18, 2023, is being widely shared on social media platforms.
Ssshhh…🤫 While Sindh government and its party chairman Bilawal Bhutto are champions of Human Rights, they need Non-Muslims for sanitary work.

In 2020 as well, the Sindh government had published such advertisements, seeking non-Muslim candidates for sanitation jobs. The advert had drawn severe condemnation.
Last year, the Punjab government had banned job advertisements that invited applications only from non-Muslims for sanitation posts. Following suit, the Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments had also banned such ads the same year.
In a 2022 report by the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR), the majority of the sanitary workers employed across Pakistan are Christians, and even if they apply for another job, they are told they only qualify for sanitation work.
