The alleged desecration of the holy book occurred about four years ago, but it wasn’t until recently that the first information report was filed under the relevant sections of law against the printer, publisher, author, composer, proofreader, and a few other unidentified facilitators.

Muhammad Hassan Moawia, the complainant and secretary general of Tahaffuz Khatme Nabuwat Forum Pakistan, said that he had been working for a long time to stop the altered translation of the Holy Quran.

He also submitted a writ petition to the Lahore High Court, which in its March 2019 order instructed all relevant authorities to take action against such publishers.

He claimed that on March 7, 2019, the suspects delivered an “altered” translation of the book to youngsters at Madressatul Hifz, Ayesha Academy, Chenab Nagar.

He said that the Punjab home department had also banned the modified version in 2016.

With Hassan Moawia’s application attached and a letter from Umar Draz, Secretary Punjab Quran Board, Lahore, proposing action against the named and unidentified accused, the Chiniot DPO office sent an email to the Chenab Nagar police.
