Swat peace protests were held last year against growing insecurity following the killing of a local school bus driver who was shot by an unknown assailant.

The human rights activist belonged to Swat Olasi Pasoon (Swat People’s Movement) and was also a member of the National Awami Party.

According to reports, the human rights activist has been missing for the last two days.

Zehri’s mother and his children returned home a day after their abduction. Whereas, his wife returned on Tuesday, while Zehri still remains missing.

Zehri’s mother told BBC Urdu that she was willing to take an oath on Holy Quran that they had done nothing wrong but the men who had broken into their house started beating her up until she was unconscious.

She said that some of the men were in uniform and as soon as they broke into the house, they started searching the place.

“I told them we are poor people and there is nothing in our house. But they did not listen to me and continued with their search”.

“They kept asking about my son and daughter-in-law. My son had taken his wife to a doctor at the time so they were not home”.

“They waited for my son and daughter-in-law to come back and as soon as they returned, they started taking us away,” she said.

“I presented Holy Quran before them and told them that I was willing to take an oath that we had done nothing wrong but they started beating me up until I was unconscious,” she added.
