Earlier, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had hinted that legal proceedings could be initiated to declare PTI a banned outfit following clashes between the party’s supporters and police in the wake of the arrest warrant issued against PTI chief Imran Khan for not appearing before a court in Toshakhana case.

Regarding a meeting between ruling coalition parties, senior journalist Munizae Jahangir asked Mohsin Dawar if declaring PTI a banned outfit was part of the meeting agenda. 

To this, Mohsin Dawar said that declaring PTI a banned outfit was not discussed during the meeting.

“Even if it was discussed, I would have been against it,” he added.

The MNA said imposing restrictions on a political party would not be fair, while adding that it would not be fair to win against a political opponent by restricting them.

However, he added, the PTI came to the power using similar tactics.

“Imran Khan’s political opponents were either disqualified from office or were put behind bars,” he added.

The politician said the people who brought Imran Khan to power through unfair means, be it judiciary or military, they should be held accountable.

Repeating the process by declaring PTI a banned outfit would be detrimental to democracy.

The Peshawar High Court granted bail to leader Ali Wazir in a sedition case and also stopped the provincial police from arresting the lawmaker in other cases.

Journalist Mubashir Zaidi said that “Sindh Police have detained Ali Wazir illegally since his written release orders were issued on February 9th”.
