]]> Amid a rise in Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) attacks targeting officials from law enforcement agencies, the police in North Waziristan have reportedly refused to accompany anti-polio teams.

Pakistan has witnessed a resurgence of terrorism with the banned TTP specifically targeting the military and police. According to a report by Reuters, the militant group is using sophisticated weapons, including weapons from the stock left behind by Western forces when they exited Afghanistan in 2021.

During the first three months of this year, as many as 127 policemen were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in various attacks.

While quoting sources, journalist Ihsanullah Tipu Mehsud tweeted that “Police have refused to perform duties during the anti-polio campaign in North Waziristan tribal district.
“Police in few more southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may follow the suit,” he added. 

Earlier, two pol­i­cemen were killed and four others sustained injuries in militant attacks on census teams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s sou­thern districts of Tank and Lakki Marwat.

Last month, a policeman was killed and four other personnel got injured in a TTP attack on a police van deployed to provide security to the census team in the limits of Daraban Police Station.
