2 Islamabad Policemen Arrested For Harassing Couples, Asking For Marriage Certificates

Published on

ISLAMABAD: Two Islamabad police officials were arrested on Saturday over complaints of harassing couples in public places by demanding marriage certificates.

According to the Islamabad Police Deputy Inspector General Operations, the police officers were involved in harassing families in public places and asking for their marriage certificates, and demanding bribes among other offenses.

On his Twitter handle, the Islamabad Police DIG said that a First Information Report will be registered against the two policemen.

The DIG also said that both policemen have been arrested and after the enquiry, they will be dealt with in accordance to the law.

“The job is to protect & serve our citizens… not to harass, exploit or school them in the name of so-called moral policing,” the DIG said.

He also urged the citizens to reach out at 1715 in case of any complaints regarding the police.
