Banned Sectarian Outfit ASWJ Holds Rally In Karachi To Support Pakistan Army

Published on

Banned sectarian outfit Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) held a rally in Karachi, expressing solidarity with the armed forces in the wake of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protestors’ action of storming military installations on May 9 following party chairman Imran Khan’s arrest.

The banned outfit’s workers marched towards Karachi Press Club.

ASWJ had announced earlier that they would hold “pro-Pakistan” rallies across the country to protest the actions of PTI supporters.

The rally is in clear violation of the National Action Plan (NAP), which not only bars the operation of any “sectarian terrorists” but also imposes a number of restrictions on them.

Following former prime minister Imran Khan’s arrest by Rangers from within the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC), the PTI supporters took to the streets, damaging military and civil properties.

Army has decided to hold the trial of PTI protestors involved in attacking military installations under the Army Act, drawing severe condemnation from human rights quarters.

Several PTI leaders and supporters have also been arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance (MPO).
